Good News, Bad news, and unanswered...
DH and I just talked with Dr. Sur.rey,
Good news: My genetic screening is normal, I am not a carrier for fragile x or any other common debilitating genetic disease and DH's sperm is normal!
Unanswered: My Karyotype is still pending and I have not had my Day 3 testing because AF has not shown her face. (I blame my recent night shifts, my entire body gives me the finger anytime I have a stretch of nights). DH's Sperm DNA frag is still pending.
Bad news: DH's
karyotyping did come back. He has a
balanced translocation of chromosome 5 and 10.
Dr. Surr.ey said that it could be one of the reasons why we have not
had success. DH has a good attitude
about it. He made the joke that he is a
mutant
My bad news is I only had an AFC of 2-so they highly recommend DE. Which is nothing we didn't already know. I am the lucky one who pulled the *** card of IF.
We just got off the phone with the Genetic counselor. The translocation has not changed our options
Option 1: One IVF cycle with my OE do ccs testing to make sure we do not have an embryo with unbalanced translocation and hope that out of the possible two embryo's one is normal and survives the ccs testing/freezing etc.
Option 2: go through multi IVF's with my OE bank embryos and then do CCS testing.
Option 3: DE and CCS testing to assure we do not transfer an embryo with unbalanced translocation.
I would love to do embryo banking. However we cannot afford to do multiple IVFs with CC.RM they are too freaking expensive. So it's looking like option 3. DH is back to work, so we will discuss our plan later. I'm confident we will be moving forward with DE and CCS testing.
Re: The good, bad, bad and unanswered...
((Hugs)) Sounds like you're getting answers, and good or bad, it's nice to have them. Is there any way you could manage option 1 and then option 3 or are you ready to move on to DE? I feel like if there's a chance financially you could squeeze it out, maybe try 1 and then go the DE route, but I know that's not easy. I know. Good Luck to you!!

It's funny because even though I know that the chances of us getting pregnant spontaneously is extremely low, I always hoped that we would get lucky and it would happen. Unfortunately at this point we have to do IVF and CCS testing because we do not want to chance having DH's balanced translocation passed onto our children as an unbalanced translocation and risking having a severely handicap child.

It gets to a point, I realize, where you want a sure thing, or close to a sure thing as possible.
I think you've got good options here. With the new info about the translocation that sheds a different light on things.
I hope you feel hopeful about an option and that you come to feel you know the right decision for you. Hugs and encouragement to you guys.
