So, I interviewed for an account executive position back in January, for a company that I've been wanting to work for. The marketing manager said he even though he thought I was great, I didn't have quite enough experience for the position, but if anything else that matches my skills opens up, he would definitely let me know. We had exchanged a few emails since then, but I haven't heard from anyone in the company since March, and I had kind of just let it go since I've been working temp to perm at another company since February.
Well this morning I got a voicemail from one of the marketing managers asking to call him back. I also saw on their website, and on some job search websites that they are hiring.
I'm really hoping they're calling to schedule an interview, but now that I'm 7 months pregnant, (due August 31) and definitely showing, I don't know what to do! Should I mention it to the marketing manager, if I'm offered an interview? I don't want them to write me off right away because I'm pregnant, but I also don't want to seem deceptive, by just showing up to a job interview, very pregnant, and not mentioning anything before the interview. I can imagine it would take them by surprise. Not really sure what I should say when I call them back...any advice would be great. Thanks!
Re: Need advice, asap!
I am sure it was surprising when I walked in 5 months pregnant to a contract job. I was interviewed remotely only. My contract ended right before my EDD so it worked. I never mentioned it. Same company hired me full time with benefits including paid maternity leave 3 days prior to my due date.
Disclose nothing, go for it!
I contacted then shortly after my daughter was born, and I was granted a second interview. The employer appreciated that I was honest about my availability to interview. I say don't bring it up until it is relevant to your ability to work.
