CS one year later

My son just turned one. At 32 weeks I found out that he was breach and did everything I could to flip him. I went to both a chiropractor and massage therapist, watched TV upside down on a board, did the insense thing, and finally tried an external chepalic version. Obviously, none of it worked. I was devestated and cried for two weeks leading up to the scheduled cs. I had planned on a natural med free birth and beyond losing that wish I was also scared of the scar I would carry forever.

Everyone talked about the "shelf" and puckering and how bad it looked. I was never able to find a picture to ease my mind. Everything was mostly just directly post partum. So, I know its kind of graphic but I really wanted to help just one other mom who was scared if I could so I'd like to share my cs at one year pp.

I don't hate it like I thought I would. I'm actuallly really amazed at how well it looks just after one year. DS was totally worth it and your LO is too.

Re: CS one year later

  • I was terrified of having surgery. But 14 months later....eh, no biggie. I had an uncomplicated c/s, recovered so well and it looks totally fine. No shelf here, just a little plumper than I used to be. But I'm working out to tone up more. Major surgery IS scary. But focus on the positives like having your baby.

  • I didn't have a shelf after my twins, and when they were 2 my scar was almost invisible, just a light pink thin line.

  • I had my c-section just shy of one year ago and I have a major shelf along the incision. I am back to pp weight but have to wear pants that are size bigger... at least! But like OP said, LO is so worth it! But I am a bit more motivated now to work harder on getting rid of it!

  • Thanks for sharing. Like you said I'd do it all again in a heartbeat just to have my daughter.
  • I'm tryng to make this more "searchable" because a co-worker asked to see mine when she wasn't finding any encouraging pictures online and wanted to see a scar IRL.

  • This is great! I have a scar that looks similar - it is going to be barely noticeable at all in another year. I was so scared of what the scar was going to look like, and did not find anything encouraging online. A year later, I don't mind it at all, and it's just getting better!
