Leg cramps ?

Have any of you experienced a leg cramp so bad that it left a  little round bruise and a knot on your leg? Is this normal?

The bruise is at the end of a batch of varicose veins so maybe the pressure of the spasm burst the blood vessels? 

I don't know if it's a normal occurrence (it's not for me) or if I should call my OB.

I get lots of leg cramps while pregnant, and have had a knot form (and stay for days! grrr), but never a bruise.  But I've never had varicose veins.  I don't like the sound of the combination.  I second calling a nurse to ask about it.

I have heard about cramps that cause bruising, but I'd call the OB anyway just to run it by them. They may want to take a look at it to rule out anything more serious like a DVT.

Thanks ladies.

I called the nurse. She said to call back if the bruising worsens or if there is swelling. Other than that, we had a lovely convo about leg cramps during pregnancy being common with the recommendation for every pregnancy malady- to drink more water.
