I have used it in my hair for a good moisturizer. I also use it to cook with, as a moisturizing lotion, I will be making my own sun protector with it, and it's great for small diaper rashes.

It has a definite coconutty flavor so if you cook with it, be aware of that. I use it when baking instead of other oils or butter because I don't mind a coconut flavor in baked goods but it will definitely flavor the food in a more distinct way than say, olive oil would. It's definitely great for the skin and hair but you WILL smell like a yummy pina colada and people will probably try to lick you.
So don't put it on before you go to Walmart?

I love to use it for frying my pancakes!
As far as the cooking versus hair: There are different "grades", I guess, that indicate the heat level on the container. If you cook with it, you'll want to buy the higher head oil. The lower temperature stuff works on the body and hair fine. I left the coconut oil in my hair for about a half an hour and washed with my normal shampoo/conditioner after.

I use it in my coffee and as body moisturizer for myself. I used it in my hair once, but I guess didn't wash it out enough because my hair was greasy after (I have fine hair anyway.)
If you use it in your hair, how do you do it? Do you leave it in for a period of time?
This is ALWAYS my question and I can never get an answer lol.
I put it on dry hair and cover with plastic and leave it on for 30 mins. Wash it twice and use less product after when you style, if you use any. I use it and my hair has been sooo soft after like two uses. It also made it easier to blow dry. Just wash really really well. And only use a but of conditioner on the ends.

Seriously, I don't want to look like this:
Lol I've only ever heard of people of certain ethnic groups using coconut oil in their hair. I want to know if it does the same shiiit for frizzy white-girl hair. Because, I'm so over this crap.
LOL. No.
So I'm stuck with my frizzy shiiit unless I want to use chemicals?

How often do you do it? Every hair wash? Once a week?
Once a week. And I do my whole head. But my hair is colored. If you don't color your hair, you could do the mid shaft down.
And I would suggest trying it on a day you don't have to go anywhere, because your hair might react differently. The first time I used my normal amount of product after and I had to rewash it.
I use it in my hair as a styling product to control frizz. Mine is mixed with aloe, tea tree, cocoa butter, and lavender. I just put a small amount on my palm and apply. I am also doing a modified "no poo" though... so my hair does not seem greasy afterward.

You use it in your coffee? Coconut oil?
I haven't tried it (although, I dunno why not yet), but I've been told it's good. Coconut oil is great for hydration from the inside out. If you consume it, it may also help with dry scalp.

To take this thread to a whole new level (not that I feel too badly, I've seen how filthy some of the threads around here get!), I've found that coconut oil makes a great substitute for lube. Really.
Also, best place I've found to buy it is the ethnic food aisle at the grocery store. It used to be harder to find and I made the mistake of buying more expensive organic stuff originally. The grocery store variety was less than half the price.

Re: I bought some coconut oil
Full body massages? That's my favorite use.
I coconut oil for DD. For her hair & skin. I sometimes mix pure Jasmine fragnace in with it.
So don't put it on before you go to Walmart?
