My thought is that I'm too lazy to make or buy one, so DS will have to fend for himself when sitting in a cart (not that he has, but someday I'm sure it'll happen...).
I think it's an excellent way to bring the germs from the grocery store home with you. Someone explain to me how they work? You put them on the grocery cart, right? Then you take them out and put them in your car so the germs come with you anyway, right?
I try to wipe them down with a chlorox wipe and then use my cover but I definitly think its a good buy.
This was taken from the ABC world news tonight web page they had a segment on the germs last night
"University of Arizona researchers tested shopping carts and found that their handles have more saliva, bacteria and fecal matter than public toilets. Kids are sometimes the culprits. They don't necessarily have the best sanitary habits," said Dr. Chuck Gerba, an environmental microbiologist at the University of Arizona. "And you're putting your broccoli right where the kid's butt was."
Other times, the cart contaminates the kids. Riding in a shopping cart near raw meat is one of the top salmonella risk factors for children, right below exposure to reptiles, according to a study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta"

I think its better to put the germs back in the trunk of your car than in your DC mouth .....
Silly. I wipe down carts with antibacterial wipes and call it a day. By the time the cart cover touches the cart, and the baby touches the cart cover, I highly doubt that it is actually protecting them from anything. I don't need something else to carry around with me.
We just got one that also doubles as a highchair cover. I love it so far. On top of being more sanitary, It keeps him a lot more cozy in the grocery cart (along with blankets wedged all around him!) and highchairs if we go out to eat.
I received one as a shower gift that I might start using now that she's doing so well sitting up. I can throw it in the back of my car and then right into the washing machine if need be. If it helps with the germs and makes the cart more comfortable for DD, then yippee - it was a great gift!
Love it! DS likes to lay to the side in the cart even when strapped in. I like the cushion it gives. I have one that works on high chairs. Those things are disgusting. I don't think most places ever clean them. I am not saying that DS will not pick up germs, but it is nice to keep him clean. I also feel better if I have to lug DS around when he is sick that I might be protecting some other innocent bystander.
Thanks! I registered for one but it got discontinued so we never received it. I have debating whether to buy it now or just wait untill i really need it. We will be returning some items to BRU this weekend and I have a coupon so maybe i'll just find one.
I use mine every single time I go to the store. Seriously, think about all the nasty on there. I would much rather have DS touching it that the cart. Plus mine has toy hooks on it that keep him occupied and a handy pocket that I can keep my keys and a pen, note pad etc. in. I would defiantly get one.
I like mine. Partly for the germs, but mostly for DD was smaller and not great at sitting up. it allowed me to put her in the cart sooner. I made my own...it was easy, but uses a lot of fabric.
Actually, other than protecting DD from germs, what I really like about it is that I can put some Cheerios in it when DD gets fussy and not worry about them getting germy or even falling through the cracks.

I had read in a parenting magazine that a bacteria test on the handle bar of grocery carts revealed a ridiculous amount of fecal matter! So a must for us. I even pour hand sanitizer on it after reading that article! yuck!
We use ours ALL the time. DD has a habit of relaxing(leaning on the side) and then putting her mouth on the side. I could not imagine not using it and I do not want to imagine the crap on those handles. We have aKozyPal, it is quick and convinent. We love it.

I have never used one. I'm not a big germ freak though. I think being exposed to some stuff is good. It allows your child to build up immunities.
I have actually only seen one or two being used in my entire life.
We have one but I don't always use it.
