A funny BLT comment made me think of this. Who has heard of mealtrain.com?
A mom friend of mine recently contacted me to talk about setting up a Meal Train for our family for when baby comes. Basically, people 'sign up' to bring you meals and goodies in the weeks following a birth [can also be used for death, moves, other big events that keep a family too busy to cook]. I was so surprised and so humbled.
There are NINE pregnant women in my mommy group right now, and everyone's doing it for each other, apparently. It's not something I would ever feel comfortable setting up for myself, obviously, but I think it's a super sweet gesture from my well meaning mom friends who know the deal, and I'm excited to help out the other new families.
Cool beans, right?

Aha, I didn't know this was actually a piece of DQ's, uh, colorful history, shall I say?
My friend asked me about preferences and I promptly said none. There's no way I'm going to dictate anything about it. If we had food allergies or something, I'd share, but we don't, so. Key word, humbled. :]
Lol. Yeah. That's where the comment came from.
It's awesome she wants to set that up for you!

My two girls Flower and Ayla Faye
I was looking into this several months ago when I wanted to set up something for my friend, but she declined.
MealBaby.com was super cute, but I didn't like how they try to guilt out-of-towners into sending take-out gift cards. I thought that was overkill.
The people at my church are very food-centric, so I've asked a friend to coordinate that on TakeThemAMeal.com. I like that site better because you can say how often you need something (for us, maybe 2-3 times a week would be nice, but certainly not every day!)
Mom is flying in next week for the baby shower, and I'm definitely going to ask that we spend a little time cooking together and stocking the freezer. I'd love to have some of her casseroles around!
