Messenger or Backpack Diaper Bag- recommendations needed!

Now that I have a 2 year old and a newborn my hands are kind of tied up whenever we go out.  I am thinking either a messenger or backpack style diaper bag may be best.  Any suggestions??  Thanks!

  • My kids are spaced similar to yours. When DS was a newborn I had a messenger style bag just for him. (It was Petunia Pickle Bottom and in all honesty it was not worth the $$ in my opinion). DD had her own backpack to help keep things separate. We usually just packed a spare set of clothes and a couple of toys/snacks.  Now that DS is almost 2 and DD is 4 they both have their own backpacks and they are so easy to carry (and I am usually the one carrying them). I would suggest just keeping things separate for now.

  • DH (SAHD) uses a Diaper Dude messenger style bag and it works great.

I don't care for how it looks but I've ended up always using it instead of the more attractive but less practical one that I bought.

  • The DadGear back is great:

We got one as we have an almost 3 yr old and twins on the way. I am on bedrest but DH has already used it for outings and loves it. He said it has a lot of space and it is easy to find things. (He also likes that that it doesn't look like a diaper bag).

You can find on Amazon or Shoebuy, eBags, etc for less esp with site coupons. (See retailmenot.com or similar)

  • We have a 2 year old and a baby on the way and have decided on the Okkatots Travel Baby Depot bag. The Youtube videos on it really sold me.
