I currently bf my LO hes 13 months and trying to wean him. He doesn't like milk that much (only drinks a few sips per day) and he's a picky eater. I feel like breastmilk is pretty much what's giving him his nutrition. What would you focus on more at this point...weaning, increasing the amount he eats, or increasing the amount of milk he drinks? I feel overwhelmed focusing on all of them.

btw LO is in the 10 th percentile for weight.

These may go hand in hand...when he starts eating more foods, he may start weaning himself because he's getting full off of other foods.

Our pedi says, (and I believe her) they will not starve...so keep offering healthy foods and if/when they get hungry they will eat them depite their distinguished palates that only want cheese and graham crackers. Good luck.

I agree, these probably go hand and hand. I would continue to offer 3 meals per day plus 2 snacks, with a sippy of milk at each. Try to sit with him and eat, maybe offering food from your plate. And try to reduce the amount of nursing, maybe morning, nap and night?

At around 14 to 15 months, my son quickly went from nursing all the time to eating meals all on his own. He just self weaned at 18 months.

I was in your shoes last year and I kept throwing more and more food choices at DD and encouraged her to drink cow's milk. She seemed to like certain cups better and she drank more than a sip or two. Can you buy something with a character your LO likes?

She didn't gain anything from 12 to 15 months, which was stressful, but we just offered a variety of food and eventually she started eating more solids. The weaning happened for her around 17 months, so it took me 5 months until she gave it up. I distracted her a lot by going out and doing a lot if fun stuff. Even now she's still looking down my shirt saying "milk all gone." It's pretty funny.

Anyhow, hang in there. It will happen. Just stick to your resolve. I agree with everyone. They won't starve themselves.
