I just found this board wish I had seen it earlier in my pregnancy.
Last week I delivered my second baby naturally it went really well and I wanted to share my story.
With dd1 i had a family doc delivery. I was induced at 41 plus 3. I went into labour quickly received an epidural and delivered 45 hrs later. But I always felt I could have done it with out medication if I had known how quickly it would go.
With this pregnancy I went with a midwife, when I hit my due date I started doing acupuncture and massage to help induce labour. I also ended up reading a book on hypnobirthing.
Last Tuesday evening, At 41 plus 2, I was putting together the bassinet when my water broke. I called the midwife and told her I was going to take a shower and that I would call her back when I started having contractions. That was about 715. At 745 my contractions started I timed a few and they were under 2 minutes apart. I called midwife back and got ready to go to hospital. Arrived at 820 and found out I was fully dilated and ready to push. Our daughter arrived at 835. While the pain was intense at times it was completely bearable.
I was really nervous about if I could do it with out meds but it was fine and I do think my recovery has been much quicker because I was neither induced or received an epidural.
Re: Share my birth story...
This! I would love to know anything you did that may have attributed to such a great L&D. I too had an epidural with my first, and am planning to go natural this time around. I'm so motivated, even after horror stories, and especially after your story - so positive! Just goes to show how different everyone really is - there's no real telling how it's going to go I guess!
Congratulations!!
