  • @mrsbubbles-2 I used to say that I would accept a second shower if someone insisted on throwing me one, but since I’m having another boy, I think I would have to turn it down. I would just end up getting a bunch of stuff I don’t need. My cousin had a shower for both her daughters and they were only 18 months apart. I didn’t judge and totally went, but now that I have a kid, I really don’t know why she needed any of the stuff she got....

  • I guess my UO today is that I don't like showers in general. I've been to a few and just found the games and stuff super painful.

My friends have all insisted I'm having one though. I don't mind getting stuff - I just don't want the decorations and the games and the attention. I'd much rather they just give me stuff privately then come over to the house for bbq and cake one day (with their spouses).
  • @hezzer78 My family doesn't do games at showers. We give people tickets to win baskets and do the buzzer when the person is opening gifts thing. I don't really like shower games either. I feel like they just drag the shower out.

I went to a bridal shower where the bride did not open the gifts at the shower and you were asked not to wrap them. It was strange. I guess I kinda thought "What's the point?"
  • @hezzer78
That's what our shower was - a co-ed hangout more than anything.  No games, just friends and family.  We catered lunch and the guys played pool and we just hung out.  I still got presents and we did a cake, if I remember but it wasn't "showery".
  • I have never been to a non-destination bach party. My close group of girlfriends are all over the country, so any get together is "destination" for at least most of the group, and I'd rather fly to Vegas/Charleston/Scottsdale/etc for a girls' weekend than fly to where one of them lives for just one night out. I guess it would be different if we all lived in the same place though.

  • @calimom2524 I had to go check it out. I don't get it either. Plus all the ones I saw on Google were women wearing the with a tee-shirt or tank top. Maybe if they were wearing a fancy dress or something it would look better. But I am gonna pass on that silliness.

  • @calimom2524 @brezzy1928 is this maybe a southern thing? That's been popular down here for years! I made my own last go-round and used a ribbon from my wedding garter. I didn't buy anything gaudy because I don't like the huge ones but I definitely jumped on that bandwagon then lol.
  • @neeraja_k agreed on it being way too easy to purchase an AR. I bought one at 9 months pregnant. It was WAY too easy. Like buying deli meat, honestly.

Something - I don't know what - needs to be done. I agree with others here. We can't just stay silent anymore.
  • @Firemanswife11 Aww see using your wedding garter is a nice idea! I looked at more pictures and when they are paired with dress or nicer tops they look much better.

I am pretty sure I wore mine with a dress at some point but for photos, I wore a tank top. Lol. But it was a firefighter-esque shoot so it worked.
  • Some of them are really pretty and then some of them look like this...

  • I agree about the gun control. I tend to shy away from anything political, but this has got to stop and we can’t stay silent anymore.
My best friend, the one I just was visiting in California, was at the concert in LV with her husband and 4 other couples. One of the men with them was shot and stayed in ICU/critical condition for weeks. Waking up to a phone call from her that Monday morning still was one of the most heart wrenching calls I’ve ever received. It makes me sick to think about how common these situations are becoming.

  • @calimom2524 - Just... nope. That is so bizarre, I've never seen one of those at any shower I've been to. But I can see that it would look nicer without the bare belly...

@lolog531 - I am so sorry about your friend's husband. That must have been awful.

@alinafed - I totally agree about the private group. Granted I have no idea how they work or anything but if it keeps the pesky troll away I'm all for it. I keep worrying things are going to get nasty and some of our people will get banned.
If we can keep the relative anonymity that the bump provides and have a safe troll-free space, I say let's go for it! Really, what's the worst that could happen?

  • WTH! Does that girl have twins or is she two weeks past due???? Maybe her arm is making her bump look much bigger than it is....lol.  Well, I will definitely not be showing up like that to a sprinkle, lol
  • Oh I think that's cute!! I live in the south and have never seen one though.  But the big belts were popular in weddings a few years back.
  • @Firemanswife11 That's so much more simply tasteful than the one Cali posted!

And while I don't think I could ever wear such a thing, it'd be cute for certain folks who are so inclined and a themed party. :)
