Invitation to a fellowship lunch at a restaurant

I got invited to a graduation and then it ssays we will be gathering for a fellowship lunch at a local restaurant after the ceremony.

does that mean everyone pay their own way?

Is it a religious group? The only time I've heard the term "fellowship" used in that regard is from church groups, where it just means a time for people to spend time together. But, it has nothing to do with who pays.
