I am so sorry you're having to go through this! I will keep you in my prayers that the surgery goes well and the nodules are not cancerous. Please keep us updated when you can - and I hope you don't have to be away from your little one for a week!
I had to respond to this and let you know, as a person who has been there done that...it WILL be okay.
I have always had thyroid issues, but I have always been chubby. My primary physician recommended an ultrasound after a suspicious palpation, and I was sent to an ENT. I had a large multinodular, multicystic goiter that was suspicious for malignancy. After much discussion, we skipped right to the total thyroidectomy. All was benign, thank God.
I had the surgery on October 31st, 2007. The first two weeks, for me, was uncomfortable, but on day 15, the cloud lifted and things were so much better.
I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, as I know how worrisome this is. If you have any questions...please don't hesitate to PM me...I will be be more than glad to help if I can...
I had half of my thyroid removed several years ago. Luckily for me, it turned out that the nodules were not cancerous. I do know someone that had to take the radioactive pill and, I agree, that wouldn't be easy with a little one to take care of. I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything turns out okay for you.
