How Much Total Sleep?

In a 24 hour period, how much sleep does your 16/17/18 month old get? I know each child is different, but I'm trying to get a sense of what is common/average for most babies of this age. How many hours do they do for night sleep? And then how many for naps?

 Our pediatrician says that at this point if he doesn't want to nap during the day, then he doesn't have to. I'm not so sure we agree as we see he's tired, even though he resists napping at times.

DS has been doing about 11 hours at night plus a 2-3 hour nap during the day for quite awhile. Sometimes we get 12 hours at night if he takes a short nap or we have a busy day.

I can't imagine allowing him to skip a nap - the afternoons/evenings after he misses a nap are HORRIBLE. He doesn't get cranky, but he gets really giddy and just can't calm down. He needs that daytime sleep.

Generally DS gets about 11 hours at night and a 1.5-2 hour nap.

DD usually sleeps around 11-12 hours a night and naps anywhere from an 1 1/2 to 3 hours. I would be so bummed if she stopped napping now...I'm really not ready for that time to come anytime soon LOL good luck

At that stage we were at a solid 12 hours a night with an hour nap during the day. (She's never been much of a napper even as a baby until recently). I never worried about it because she seemed and well rested..just busy.

Now at almost 2 it's about 10 hours a night with a 2-3 hour nap during the day. Part of the change was daylight savings, part of it was just getting older I think.

DD has never really slept more than 10-11 hours overnight.  Plus she was doing three hour naps a day until she hit about 18 months.  Most recently, we're cutting the nap down to 2 hours, because she is waking in the night and trying to play. 

I don't care how much DD resists a nap, she eventually takes one, even if it's late and only for an hour.  There's just no way she could regularly make it through the day without napping at all, she'd be an awful mess!

my 17-mo gets 11.5-12.5 a night, usually right around 12, and his nap is between 1-2 hours. he used to get 14+ in 24 hours, but now it's closer to 13. some days his babysitter doesn't put him down for a nap until later in the day or he naps in the car on the way home and those days are brutal, he def needs his nap.

Mine sleeps 1112 hours at night and 23 during the day. If she misses nap, she is up SEVERAL times at night often hysterical... im hoping this phase doesn't last long lol

DS (17mos) goes down for 12 hours at night and takes two 1 to 1.5 hour naps a day.

We're pretty similar.  10.5-11 hours at night, 1.5-2 hours during the day.

DS will be 18 months on Monday. He takes a 3 hour nap in the afternoon, goes to bed for the night at 8 pm and gets up for the day at 8 am.

I should note, he sometimes wakes up early from his nap, but plays in his crib or talks to himself. Same for in the morning.
