Lunch meat

I was not aware that you shouldn't eat lunch meat! Just found out 4 days ago that I'm 6 weeks pg today and I had been going to subway once a week..

  • Listeria infections aren't particularly common, it's just that they are very risky for the developing fetus.

  • You can eat it. Just make sure it's fresh and when in doubt get your sand which toasted. I have eaten subway regularly during all my pregnancies.

  • I have never heard this. In fact I met with a nutrionist and we discussed healthy options at Subway.
  • I crave lunch meat! There hasn't been a listeria outbreak since 2004 with lunch meat I think it was. Just make sure any food meats, cheeses are all processed.
    Pregnancy discovered at 12 weeks 12/2007 - D&C at 13 Weeks due to partial Ectopic pregnancy/Body rejecting pregnancy. Last Pregnancy - EDD August 2013 TTC Our first miracle baby.

  • Eh, it's fine. You're just as likely to get listeria from a healthy homemade salad as you are from Subway. Maybe even less likely from Subway, since their turnover on meat is so high. 
  • Everything in moderation. They say this because of unpastorized foods. Things are more carefully prepared now. Not to say go crazy and only eat subs. As with anything consult your doc but mine always said that here and there is fine. Nothing to worry abou

  • my OB said better not to eat lunch meat but that if you do, just heat it to steaming first!
  • I ate deli meat all the time when I was pregnant with #2- granted it was at a very clean place and I worked there so I knew where it came from.

    I eat it maybe once or twice a week now.
