Ideas for getting 12 mo to eat meat

Hi there, I am having a lot of trouble getting my 12 mo old daughter to eat meat.  She used to eat shredded chicken or meatballs as a finger food, but now she just doesn't seem to like eating meat.  She currently has six teeth- 2 top, four bottom and is getting two more on top.

I have tried a lot of different types of meat and she just does not want to eat it.  The only way I can usually get her to eat it now is if I cut it up and hide it in orzo or cous cous and spoon feed it (the only food she will eat from the spoon is orzo, cous cous, or yogurt).

I giver her primarily finger foods and have tried: meat sauce, ground chicken, breakfast sausage, shredded chicken, chicken pot pie, chicken and dumplings, pulled pork, meatballs, chicken nuggets, roast beef, ham, etc.

Does anyone else have this struggle?  Any suggestions for different things to try?

  • My son won't eat meat either. I've made tofu and bean quesadillas to try and make up for it. If I try to put some shredded chicken in with rice, he will put a big bite in his mouth, realize it's not just rice, and pick the piece of chicken right o

  • We went through the no-meat stage around the same time.  He loved meats of all kinds, until all of a sudden he didn't.

I alternated between continuing to serve meats and not flipping out if he didn't eat it, or ate around it (like han

  • DS is also a self proclaimed vegetarian.  I've tried everything under the sun.  If I disguise it, he just sucks whatever I disguised it in off & spits it out.  Ironically, he eats meat at daycare, but she usually hides it in mac &amp

  • Why are you so intent on getting her to eat meat?  I'm assuming it's because you want her to get iron and protein in her diet, which you can get from beans and legumes.  I give my DD hummus on crackers or mixed with applesauce and she eats black
