Those who have dealt with depression

I think I may be depressed. I made an appt with my doctor, but I am really nervous. I'm not sure what to expect.

Our insurance doesn't cover a counselor, so I'm not sure how much my general practice doctor can do.

Does anyone have any insight?

How sure are you about the counselor?  It's called Cognitive Behavior Therapy (at least that's how my insurance billed it).

Do you have prescription coverage? Your GP can prescribe prosac, or something similar. or you may be able to find a counselor who will let you pay on a sliding scale if insurance won't cover it.

Are you sure counseling isn't covered?  They may require a certain type of provider (psychologist vs. licensed clinical social worker), but most insurance companies do cover this.

I didn't think my insurance covered it either but I called and asked.  They emailed me a list of approved counselors.  I see her every 2 weeks.  I went to my GP and she gave me a daily pill (Lexapro) and a "situation" pill (Xanax).  Sh
