XP: Update to today's u/s and amnio (not CVS)

First, thank you to all who have kept us in your thoughts and prayers over the last several days.  I can't begin to explain how much it's meant to me to have you all in my corner.  Here's a very shortened version of what happened today.  I'd like to eventually post a more thorough explanation one day because we learned quite a bit from the genetic counselor and may be helpful to some of you or others in the future.  It's just that right now, I am completely and utterly exhausted and quite frankly a little too defeated to go into all of it. Hope you'll understand. 

I had more testing today and although the preliminary results will be ready by Wednesday or Thursday, the ultrasound revealed a very poor prognosis. There were severe problems with the brain, heart, kidneys, bowels and also a cyst on the umbilical cord in addition to some other issues. When we asked the doctor his opinion, we were told that there would be very little, if any, quality of life for our little boy. And although we had an idea that these were the things we might be told, we were just devastated and dumb-founded because to see him dancing around on the ultrasound screen we would have been none the wiser. In our eyes he looked perfectly healthy, but it's just not the case. 

Again, thank you for following my story, lending support and just being someone to lean on during this horrible time.  I will never be able to thank you enough. (hugs)
