I don't know if this is just my friends/family, or what, but we don't talk about salary/wages. And I have no clue why. (besides my husband, and my parents, I know what they all make). I have an idea of what my friends make, only because I work in job placement so I get to see a lot of salary info that way, but I would never straight out ask them/nor have I ever been asked.
I'm questioning this specifically today because my husband just got a really amazing raise at work. $10k up from what he was making, and it was completely unexpected. We're really happy, and I feel like I want to shout it from the rooftops, but I would never do that. And I can't explain why.
Why is salary such a taboo?
Re: Do you talk about wage?
that's awesome.
I never talk about salary with anyone but my husband, and maybe my dad if I want advice. I have no idea how much anyone besides myself and my H make (I mean, I have ideas, but still).
I have no idea how much my parents, ear
I don't know why exactly its not talked about, I've always been told its bad manners or tacky to ask or talk about. The only people I'll talk about it with is my husband, my sister and my dad.
My close friends, family & I do talk money. We don't talk down to the penny, but we will discuss real life numbers when the topic arises. I'm not sure why money is such a taboo topic. I wonder if more people talked about it (with people they trust)
