Cargo bikes?

Longterm lurker here. I have a seven month old and we basically never drive except on the weekends for groceries. I think I could cut out the car completely with the right bike. I've seen those bikes that have the cargo buckets in the front or back and have seats for kids and room for groceries. Does anyone know about these bikes and have experience with them? What brands and models are best? Instinctively, I think having him in front is better but is it? Also, at what age do you think is safe for bringing LO along for rides? Thanks!

I have no advice but have ALWAYS wanted a bakfiet.  They are so damn expensive tho
