Asking to go potty every 5 minutes?

My son just started potty training and he is asking to go like every 5 minutes.  Is this normal? He doesn't complain that it burns or anything, he just seems super excited to be doing it and I think that's why he is wanting to go all the time.  Did anyone else's kid do this.  Does this stop at some point.  I just get him all put back together and he wants to go again? All I am doing is taking him to potty, it's draining my last drop of energy. Pls tell me it's a phase

yes.  then they start to hold it more and more till its at a normal time.  I thought the same with my older daughter.  I felt like I couldn't leave the house because she would always have to go.  Its a phase I promise.

If you're home, maybe you could let him go naked from the waste down. Then he can go every 5 minutes until the novelty wears off without the extra dressing/undressing hassle.

Thanks ladies, I appreciate it, I kinda felt stupid asking it but it's making me crazy.
