Due date vs. Term date

Hiya,

Curious as to what you tell people when you ask when you're due. My "singleton" due date would be 9/25, but OB explained that my "term date" of when I'm full term (37 wks) is 9/4. So I've been using my term date as my due date, but I gather not everyone does this (in looking at the MoMs check in there's at least one person further along than me whose due date is listed as after my "term date" due date). So confusing - I wonder why OB's don't just change the due date to three weeks earlier. Esp. since there's no way I'd make 40 weeks, as I believe I'd get induced at 38 weeks.

Re: Due date vs. Term date

  • I used my actual due date as my due date but explained that I would go earlier.  My due date was 8/12 but I had them on 7/13.

  • Gotcha! Thanks! The part that really confused me was the 38 week induction. But I like the MO of giving your actual due date and then the caveat.

  • My EDD was 10/23, but my c/s was scheduled for 10/4. So, I just told people I was due in October.

  • Before we had a delivery date (RCS) I told people my actual due date. Now we have a delivery date of 37.1 so when people ask that's what I tell them. I make sure to specify that it's my delivery date, not due date. Or if I tell them my actual due date I follow it up with "But my OB wont let me go that long so we'll be delivering on or before April 22nd". Seems to satisfy people's curiosities.

  • I did what PP did.  I was due 9/13.  I said "I'm due in September, but they'll most likely arrive in August."  They actually arrived on 7/30.

  • Yep, ditto MrsLee. I said so many times, "My due date is January 21st but twins usually come at least a few weeks early so they might come around Christmas or New Year's."

  • My standard answer was "They're due January 27 but I'm hoping to make it to January." They were born on 12/27.

  • Or you could be me who kept saying, they are due in early November but will be here sometime in October only to have them born on their due date, in early November.
