How late is too late for a baby shower?

We had scheduled my SoCal baby shower for August 18th which is almost exactly 2months from my due date and we scheduled my hubby's 30th birthday the night prior. I am renting out the patio at his favorite brewery and his fave 80s cover band is going to play - He is so excited. His family is from Nor Cal and we thought this would be a great way to make sure they could attend both. Well, now I come to find out my dad and both brothers will be in Ireland for a work commitment and of course my hubby is crushed because he is really close to them and wants them there for his 30th (my dad also wants to be here for my baby shower b/c it's at his country club). Now, the struggle is trying to find a weekend that will work to have both families there which brings me to 6 or 7 weeks before my due date for both his 30th bday and my baby shower.

I'm a little worried because I was born 6 weeks early ... We are putting a deposit down on the space and re: the shower, I honestly would like a good month to organize, return duplicates, etc.

So, do I take a chance and do both 6-7 weeks before my due date or do I make it work where I have the shower when his mom can't come but she can make his 30th birthday? Note: She is throwing me a shower in NorCal in July. I feel like she will flip out but I don't know what else to do and our families are SO busy in July & August. 

Another side note: If I change to 6-7 weeks before i'd be having my baby shower on my cousins due date ... is that insensitive?

I had mine a month before my son was born.  I thought that was usually the norm.

I had mine 4 days before I went into labor. It was a little too close for me. I was having contractions the entire time and made it uncomfortable.

I'd say don't stress and have the baby shower when it's good timing for you. Your the one it's for, and as long as timing is good for you, that's the most important thing!

Worst case you miss the party and have a beautiful baby in your hands I had a friend who had her husband attend because her baby was 1 week old. More than likely it will be fine but even if you have your baby early it will still work out.

I wouldn't be worried because you were born 6 weeks earlier.  That really has no effect on when your baby will be born. 

I think 6-7 weeks out is fine.
