I keep a 16 month old in my home during the week and today I found out that she hasn't had her 12 month vaccinations. I only started keeping her 3 months ago and I didn't even think to ask something like that beings she didn't seem like the type of person that wouldn't vaccinate her kids.
She asked me if I had a scale to weigh her daughter. I said no, how much was she at her 15 month checkup. That's when she told me she hasn't even been to her 12 month checkup because her childs dad had lost his job and gotten another and their is a lapse for insurance. I advised her to check into the COBRA law. Her attitude was that it wasn't a big deal so I reacted with no concern. The childs dad got a job a month ago and there is a 3 month employment wait until he can get insurance with the company. That would put her months behind on her vaccinations. After she left I realized omg her child hasn't been vaccinated and now I'm not sure how to approach her about this.
I do not like confrontation or questioning people, especially about their parenting. I know this concerns my children as well, but I'm just not sure if a call, text or just mentioning it in person is how to approach it. I'm a nervous wreck about this because I love her and her child dearly and do not want her to get mad or just stop bringing her, but if she isn't going to get her daughter up to date on vaccinations I may have to ask her to stop bringing her.
Please, moms lend me your best advice!!
Re: How would you handle this?
What is the "type of person to not vaccinate" like? I wasn't aware that a parenting decision she made for her family and her child puts her in a negative "TYPE of person" stereotype.. I think if you're that uncomfortable and concerned about
LCT - 5.15.14 ~ 9lbs, 22.5 inches
In my state, the health dept gives free vaccines to those in need. Share this with her.
Why do you need to approach her about this? If your children are vaccinated, it should not impact you. If I were in this parent's position and you made a big deal, I wouldn't drop you as a childcare provider because you made me feel uncomfortable about
Any child in the US who does not have insurance that covers vaccinations can get free vaccines under a program called Vaccines For Children. She will probably have to go to a health department or certain clinics in her area that participate, but

Thank you everyone for your responses.
1- I do not judge people that do not vaccinate their kids. That is their business, however, I choose to vax my children and I would like the children that come in to my home to be vaxx'd as well.

I guess I'm in the ignorant, uneducated category because I have my kid on an alternative schedule. By alternative I mean that we don't do 4-6 vaccinations at one tim
