I feel very fortunate that my old manager was understanding & let me work pt after I had DS; I used to work 3 days/wk, now I work 4 days. My current manager does not have kids & is not as understanding. I'm really mad at the moment b/c he even went so far to write on my annual review that although I "leave work early it's not a problem since my work gets done". I talked to him about it & told him I'm still working my scheduled 8 hrs - just earlier. It's just like he's setting me up for a potential problem down the road. He also told me he'd prefer not to have any pt employees but he's not going to change anyone's schedule now. All of this just leads me to really realize that after I come back from maternity leave in fall I really need to look for a new job. Once my kids are in school I would like to work school hours (which isn't for a few more yrs still) - but even so, I can tell this guy is not going to be flexible at all. Sorry for the rant - I'm just really mad about the whole thing...

I agree that some boss's are flexible and some are not. My current supervisor is a single female in her 50s. She's never been married or had kids, however, she had an elderly parent to care for until recently, so she understand the need for

Sorry to hear this. I hope he gets transferred and you get a more family friendly supervisor.
