Trying to Get Pregnant

IUI and Colds?

Had my first IUI last Saturday. That evening, I got a terrible sore throat and runny nose. No fever, but just achey body and general cold symptoms. I took clomid for 5 days this cycle to prepare for the IUI, had the trigger shot on Friday, and have also been taking meds for my slight-hypothyroidism.

Does this mean anything or am I just now getting the winter cold everyone has been ranting about on Facebook? This whole not being able to take Nyquil, advil or afrin sucks though!

Sooooo ready for the 2ww to be over! 7 days and counting....

Re: IUI and Colds?

  • It means you have the cold or flu.

    Good fishing trip though.

  • The cold is really just a coincidence. I agree it is a pain to not be able to take anything though (except tylenol as PPs said) . Good luck with this first IUI. I'm nearing the end of my TWW from my first IUI also.

Hope you feel better. Oh and y

Who said you couldn't take meds?  My RE told me I could take Tylenol, I was sick last IUI cycle and took Tylenol Cold/Flu warming honey lemon liquid, it helped.

  • I had a horrible sinus infection when I went in for my first IUI, the nurse scolded me for not treating it sooner and told me to go to a minute clinic to be looked at. Ask your doctor which medications you can take that won't interact with your thyroid me

  • The cold has nothing to do with anything other than being sick. I had my IUI last Saturday, and woke up on Sunday as sick as a dog. I was sick for four days. I took meds.I now feel better. <img src="https://community.thebump.com/cs/emoticons/emotion-5.g

  • Wasn't sure if the trigger shot affected immune systems or what not.

Dr told me to treat my body like I was already prego during the TWW after the IUI. So certain cold meds you shouldn't take. I did take one Tylenol and robittisin dm.
