What you get to look forward to

What you get to look forward to...

Ladies...sometimes I wish I could bottle up days like this and keep them for when he has a girlfriend and embarass the crap out of him...or even just laugh about it in 20 years.

So, I've been trying to lose weight. Working out five days a week at the YMCA while I drop the kids off the childcare in the building. Adeline didn't like it at first but she's getting better. She even took a quick snooze today. Daxton hasn't been in daycare for a very long time. We have playdates about once a week with any one of the three friends I have who have little girls around the same age, but that's not a lot of time to play. Two hours a week doesn't cut it when it comes to learning how to socialize.

I checked on them before talking to the aquatics director about my part time job that I'll be taking on in a couple weeks. I see a little girl, about four years old, holding my son's hand, as he "walks" a toy puppy behind him. It was so fricken cute I almost died. *Mental picture, click*

Usually I walk in to pick them up and Addy is either fussing or crying because she's DONE being without me. And Dax is usually sitting by himself somewhere playing with a toy.

Today I walk in and Addy wasn't fussing. *Mental picture, click!*

A little boy comes up to the door and says, "Daxton threw a block at my head." Um, ok? I didn't even know what to say... Then the teacher tells me that he threw a block at this kid's head. He cried. Then Dax felt bad, he said sorry and tried to give him a hug and a kiss. Said, Kid, still standing at the door, asked me, "What's this?" and holds his finger up. "That, my friend, is a crusty booger." *Mental picture...ew...*

On our drive home, Daxton tells me..."I threw blocks at his head." I replied, yes, that was naughty. "Yeah. He cried. I said sorry."

Ladies...I can't wait til your little ones give you small little memories like this. I know it doesn't seem like much, but just try to remember little things like this.

Take a breath. Remember that all these sleep issues, sickness, etc, won't last. Smiles, coos, babbles, etc are hard to focus on, but focus long term. My baby is going to preschool this Fall. PRESCHOOL!!!! And he's potty trained....Um, I feel like I missed two years, here. What happened?? Time goes by so fast.

Take it all in...

  • Sorry, I giggled at "crusty booger, my friend."

I honestly think that ages 2-5 are my favorite. And preschool is AWESOME! I always got great stories out of Lexie. She would come home and give me the down-low about who pooped their pants :)
