We took the kids to see the Easter Bunny yesterday. When he walked in DD was just beaming and grinning from ear to ear. DS on the other hand started slowly backing away. I though maybe it was just because all the other kids had rushed in and the parents all starting taking pictures - but pretty soon he was in tears screaming and terrified. Poor kid. DH got him calmed down and when the hype died down I asked him if he wanted to go by the bunny and he started crying again. Not really thinking - I said "it's ok, mommy doesn't like guys dressed up like big bunnies either". He got a puzzled look in his face and said - "what"? MIL shot me a look and motioned to the kids that were running around. Crap. I thought maybe he forgot about it but an hour later he says "mommy, that was just a man in a costume, not a real bunny".
3 years old and I've already ruined it for him. I guess I don't totally want him thinking there are 6 ft rabbits out there, but I still feel bad. Hopefully Santa Claus can survive a few more years.

Like PPs said, if you really want to keep the spirit alive you can tell them he's the real bunny's helper.
I personally always found the easter bunny story kind of ridiculous and don't think I've ever seen an easter bunny costume that woul
