"Gravel" game?

We were at the playground and saw a dad playing a game with two girls.
One would run around with her eyes closed, yelling "gravel!".
The other girl and dad didn't make a noise.
She touched her sister, but that didnt seem to change who was it. The dad later became it while running up the slide.
He said he "got" the little girl when he said gravel and "THEN heard your feet hit the ground". He was ten feet from her.
What game is this? I feel like my childhood was deprived in some way by not playing gravel.
