At the end of last year, H had to go to the doctor for a mandatory checkup at work. Well, he ended up having to go back for a followup that work didn't pay for. We have Cigna, and it is our first claim with them. Anyways, he paid his 30 copay, and we were done. We didn't receive an EOB, but in January, we received a letter asking for additional information. CSR at cigna said they were just waiting to hear from the doctor. We got one a few weeks later, identical letter, stating that they had asking for addition information that we had not sent. We never got a letter telling us what that information was and all th CSRs would say is that they were waiting for the doctors office to call, and it would be all taken care of. Well yesterday we got a letter where the doctors office sent us to a collections agency. I'm irrate because we have plans on building a house soon, but will need to take out money from the bank. The sent us to collections for 124. I call cigna pissed, because they said it would be taken care of. The CSR then tells us that they paid most of that claim except for 34 dollars which is our deductible. Ok I have questions before I call the doctor, and get pissed. 1st WHY did no one tell us we owed this between cigna and the doctors office? No letters from either. 2nd WHY is collection agency billing us for a different amount? 3rd Who do I have to call and what do I say to make this no go on our credit report?

When you call the doctor's office, let them know that you were not notified of the balance that was due and that you are happy to pay it in full if they are willing to write a letter stating that this was an error. Then you send a copy of that letter t
