Cloth Diapering

Meconium

Hi ladies! I just completed my birth class today and the instructor advised against using cloth for the first couple of days because she says meconium simply can't be cleaned and my diapers would be ruined. I was planning on using swaddlebees AIOs and prefolds from day one. Is she right? Should I plan on using disposables for the first 2 days, or do you have some recommendations for cleaning them? Thanks!

  • I used my prefolds and covers and it didn't even stain them! I've also heard that if it does stain them, sunning will still take care of it.

  • It's a myth. It washes out just fine. I had one cotton Grovia end up a little green-tinged but it's NBD.

  • Thanks, Ladies! I was worried because a few of the other CD moms in the group seemed to have heard about the staining and are planning on using disposables for a few weeks. I was pretty sure that I had seen quite a few women over here who CDed from day 1
