First appointment

Hi all - it seems a lot of you have already had ultrasounds and been to the doctor at least once. Do you get the ultrasounds because you had a history of m/c? I have my first doctor's appointment today - I'm about 6 and a half weeks. I don't know what to expect - will they just draw some blood? How do you all have your beta levels - is that something they'll call me with, or don't they do that if you don't have a history of m/c?
Sorry for all the questions... this is my first pregnancy so I have no idea what to expect and how much info they will give me. Any advice is appreciated! :)
