Babies on the Brain

Just late or time to test?

Okay, sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place, this is my first time posting. I have a question I was hoping y'all could help me out with. So I am late this month. I was late last month by a week, and because of that I'm not sure how late I am this month, I have an app that I use that is always pretty accurate, and it says I was supposed to start on the 4th, but I'm not sure if that is counting my being late last month. According to my app my average cycle is 22 days. My last period started Feb. 9, and ended on Feb. 11. I used another website today, and I put in an average cycle as 28 days just to see what it would say, and it said I should have started on Sat, Mar 9. So according to these, I'm 3-8 days late.

In October, I started birth control, In January I had to stop. I was only on it for 3 months. I was on the ring. My husband and I use condoms though. I don't think it's *likely* that I am pregnant, but I know it is possible. But I also tend to be a hypochondriac, so this is why I wanted to ask you ladies your opinion.

Also, my nipples have been swollen constantly for almost 2 weeks, and are sometimes sore. Last week they were so sore I had to put a cold wet washcloth on them, and couldn't even wear a shirt around the house! That is not normal for me. I also have been breaking out on my chin really bad for 2 weeks, and the last few days my skin started to get a little oily.

I'm thinking maybe it's the hormones from the BC getting out of my body, but I want to see what y'all think. Should I test or am I just being a hypochondriac again? haha. Thanks!!

  • If you think you're late, pee on a stick. No one here can tell you what's going on in your uterus.

First of all, you need to stop using the 'average' cycle length as a predictor for your own cycle.  Everyone's body is different.   Take a test - we can't tell you if you're pregnant.

  • If you think you're late, it can't hurt to test. If it's negative and you still don't get your period, test in another week. Still a BFN, wait it out another couple months (other women on here say 60 days 'late') and then consult your doctor if you still don't have it. It might be the hormones from the BC coming out of your system. It can take your body some time to adjust.

  • I'm thinking it may be hormones too, but I will probably test if I don't get it soon. I started getting a few cramps, so I think I may start soon. Thanks though, was just wanting to get other opinions!

Not to get your hopes up but don't rule out pregnancy because of cramps, When I was pregnant I got cramps and was sure my period was coming but when it didn't I tested and BFP (I was about 11dpo). Point is it doesn't hurt to test.
  • I have never had a normal period EVER! So I was in your shoes too. I felt like my period was going to come any day now, I was 10 days late, I took it, no positive... Another week went by and I took it and the line was sooo faint! So I still wasn't sure. Another week went buy and the line was defiantly darker so I called to get a proof of pregnancy and I was only 4 weeks along! I knew basically the whole time!! It can be very sad if the test isn't positive, it was for me. Especially since I was told I could never get pregnant, I felt like I set myself up for failure by even testing. Anyways you should test, the sooner you know the more prepared you can get, and if you test negative and still don't get your period you might have a problem.
