Hey moms out there!
What car seat would you recommend for an infant? I did some research, and it seems that the infant car seats are more safe than convertible ones. Is this true? Can you suggest a particular brand? Thanks for the responses, I don't know where to start
Re: Carseat
We had a Graco Snugride, and it worked just fine.
It's not an issue of safety for one vs another, it's what's more appropriate at each age. While you technically could use a convertible carseat from birth, the vast majority of people recommend an infant carseat for newborns, and a convertible once they grow out of the infant seat. There's the added bonus that an infant seat can detach from the base so you can carry them in that instead of waking them up to lug them around.
I would recommend a Consumer Reports subscription, or a copy of Baby Bargains, to get some other recommendations.
All carseats meet safety standards so you often pay more for the extras (which I think are worth it!)
Most important and it's already been said... but the safest car seat is the one installed properly and used properly. Learn how to use and install your car seat.
We had a professional help after I became a freak about carseats. They seatbelted my girls in and literally swung the carseat upside down to prove that neither girl would budge at all.
