Teething and getting a fever

How long did the fever last? Mine has had a low grade (99) since Saturday..only once did it go up to 101 but he had just woken up at that point so when I took it a few hours later it was back to 99.  The nurse said if it doesnt get over 101 it's only teething and could last a few weeks???

We have only experienced the fever right before the teeth broke through, 3 days or so.

99 is not a fever IMO. Our pedi doesn't consider it a fever until 100.4. Also, speaking from experience, kids body temps can go up during naps (my son sweats buckets when he sleeps) so always wait at least 30 minutes after a nap before checking the temp. I rushed my DD in to Urgent Care after her nap due to what I thought was a fever (and she had complained about pain when she peed earlier in the day so I was worried about UTI) only for it to be normal once we were seen.

When my older kiddos were teething they would run fevers for weeks at a time, but they were usually cutting multiples at a time. It's such a frustrating time, not knowing whether they are getting sick or if it's just teeth. It never hurts to call the pedi when you're not sure.

My LO has been running 99 for a long time, weeks. There might be a time or two it's been less that I've checked. My nephew was the same way while teething. My pedi says fevers are 100.4, so I call this a "teething temp."
