Looking at my 12 week ultrasound it looks like the nub is pointed up and I was wondering how many of you believe in the validity of the nub theory to predict gender?
I definitely believe it...but from a medical professional's judgment. I wouldn't go out and buy clothes, but sure you can start thinking your child is a boy (that's the "up" one, right?)
That is a really good question to ask. I had my NT done last week and when we asked the tech if she could tell what the baby was she based it off the nub. She said that if it's pointed up it's a boy and if it was down a girl.
She said our baby's was pointed down. I am interested to find out if she was right or not.
10 weeks 3 days. "I'm all jacked up on Mountain Dew!"
I don't know if I believe it or not yet. But based on the "nub" theory at my NT scan on monday the Dr predicted boy, both the Dr and the sonographer actually predicted boy separately. Baby's dangle was pointed up and sort of swayed when they moved from side to side so im predicting boy. We will see in four weeks!
Based on the angle, my OB said he is pretty sure we have another boy on the way. We got a really good profile shot of the baby, so it was obvious the nub was pointing up at more than a 30 degree angle. Of course I'm not announcing anything at this point, but I'm interested to see if he's right.
The nub is the little thing that sits between their legs, you can see it really well in my pic. Apparently, if it slants at an upward angle in relation to the back it's a boy, if it's straight it's a girl.
I know it is much easier for them to predict boys with this and if it is at a upward angle you are having a boy. Girls are much harder. I had my NT scan and they predicted one of each. At 12 weeks they really did look different based on the angle. The girl "nub" was parallel with her spine.

I heard the opposite. The boys penis would be at a 30 degree angle and if a girl it would be point upwards.
ETA: if a girl it would be parallel to the spine. My fault!
My brother and sister-in-law are due a couple of weeks before me, and their doctor was pretty sure they are having a boy based on the nub. They were told they officially could only say 70% chance but the doctor definitely thought it was higher than 70%.
My ultrasound tech said it was studied at a university and they said it is 80% accurate so it could be legit. I hope he was right because he said mine looked like a girl!
