Ahh...something I'm not looking forward to at all. However, it has come up a few times because I do think he would sleep better. I think I'm doing the thing where you pick him up when he starts making some noise even if he's not really crying. I guess I do it because I'd rather feed him right away so I can go back to sleep but I wonder if he just worked it out for a while if he would even need the feed, kwim? I tried just soothing him last night for one of his feeds and it worked like a charm.
I can totally see myself just staring at the monitor, checking the batteries, etc. for a while though! Hopefully you start to adjust soon and can enjoy the extra sleep!

Thanks ladies - I knew i couldn't be the only one who's having a hard time with this. Realistically he's only 5 more feet or so further away, if I kept the door open I could see him but even w/ the door half open DH woke him up this morning (the reason for the move to happen) turning lights on ... but at least he went right back to sleep. Ugh.

Ds doesn't sleep through the night in any way but I actually like having him in his room more. I put the monitor inside his crib he can't even roll yet and I can hear every breath. I have more confidence than when he was in our room that way.

This was me too! Once he started making any noises I would just pick him up to feed him, because I was already up and I knew I wouldn't sleep well until he ate anyways. I decided to try putting him in his room a few weeks ago (and kept the bassinet in our room in case I changed my mind) and it has been great. Now that I don't hear the little sounds he pretty much sleeps from 9-5 (sometimes even 6 or 7) gets up to eat and then goes back down for another 2-3 hours. It's awesome!

I'm with Karma. DD never slept in our room and I'm still obsessed with making sure I hear her breathing through the monitor.
