anyone had luck with embryos

The RE has informed me that my embryos are not the best but I don't care its our chance.  They are ours and I will hope.  They are donor embryos that need a chance.  I have 3 day 2 embryos.  I have been told that 2 are 4 celled and 1 is a 3 cell.  2 are grade 3 one is a grade 2.  Has anyone had a positive transfer similar to this?????? Come on I just want hope.  Is there anything else I should ask?  If you have done this what is the chance that all 3 will make it when they defrost???

  • No experience with donor embryo, but know that Liz4paws recently had a BFP with then.  Her adopted embries were frozen for a long time....might ask her for more details.

  • Hi, actually no need to page me. I just came across this post. :) Yes, I recently had a BFP and am now 5w5d pregnant with donor embryos. I don't have information on the quality of ours because my doctor never shared. However, I can tell you that they were frozen as zygotes (day 1 embryos) over ten years ago. For our transfer, they thawed four, two grew to beautiful day 5 blasts, and two did not survive. I have a fifth still frozen. I think you have a good chance of yours surviving. In fact, I learned that the earlier in the process they are frozen, the better chances you do have for thaw. So the fact they are day 2 is actually good. My doctor also said "I have seen beautiful babies made from ugly embryos, and have also seen beautiful embryos turn out to be nothing." I tried to remember this through the process. Ultimately, they are going to do what they are going to do and we have no control. I was terrified beyond words when they thawed ours, it's normal to be scared. I hope you have success and I think it's cool to meet another embryo adoption mama-to-be on here. There are only a few of us! :)

  • Hi, I have twins via donor embryo.

But I won't be much help on the embryo grades, sorry.

If I remember correctly, our donated embryo lot had been frozen on Day 1-2 (not sure) about 5 years earlier using the old freezing method.  I don't think they were graded because it was too early in process.

We ended up with 2 to transfer at Day 5.  One looked great and the other was just OK.  Sorry I didn't ask the dr for their grades.  Both stuck and we finally got our sticky take home babies!

Good luck to you on your cycle.  As PP said, there are not many donor embryo ladies on the board, but there are a few.
