Rash on Upper Body

Hey fellow mommies to be!!

This is my first time in here, as I was originally thought to be an October mom. But a recent doctor visit changed that.

Anywho, I just hit 9 weeks this week and happened to notice a patch of itchy skin the other day up by my neck. Then the next day it was all over my breasts. The skin was itchy and red with little bumps, although I'm not sure if I caused the bumps from scratching at it. Well last night I noticed that it was all on my chest and neck and a spot on my belly. Anybody else dealing with a rash and what did you use to stop it?

The packet my doctor gave us said it was fairly normal, but it's annoying!

Re: Rash on Upper Body

  • have you started a new prenatal or other pill? New soap, body or laundry?

  • I love cortisone 10 plus restora for eczema, clears up all my rashes and hydrocortisone cream is okay for pregnancy.. I noticed some bumps on my belly last night.  Put the cream on after a shower.
  • No, nothing new. My prenatal is the same one I'd been taking the whole time but I kind of wondered about that also.
On the first small patch, I'd put some hydrocortisone cream on it and it was fine. I just went to the store and bought some Aveeno oatmeal soap for itchy dry skin and excema so I'll see if that works any since its spread all over now.
  • You might want to ask your doctor.  Mine asked specifically if I'd had any rashes so that makes me think it might be something you want to mention.

  • Okay, so I just got off the phone with the nurse and she said that with the hormone changes it's normal. Said to wash with the Aveeno and monitor it. If it gets worse I need to go in but it's nothing to worry about, so that's a plus!
  • I have this too as of last night!!! I figured my skin is dry and I need lotion lol
  • I would probably ask the doctor. At every prenatal appointment so far, they've asked if I have any rashes. I haven't so I'm not sure what they mean. It definitely wouldn't hurt to ask.

  • I have one that has progressively gotten worse. It started on my stomach as what looked like ring worm, so I was treating that. Then small bumps that appeared like chicken pox but am I am immune so it's not that...it's only on my torso and now spreading to the outsides of my breast. I talked to the NP who isn't ever helpful and sometimes laughs at my questions which is a whole other issue and she just told me to wait until my scheduled apt with the dr. Calamine has been helping with the itching, as well as benedryl. Good luck!
  • I have this too. I was told by my doctor that it is keratosis Pilaris rubra, also known as red hair plugs. Sounds gross. It's completely hormonal. She suggested aveeno moisturizer.
The important part is that its harmless. Just annoying.
