Post-Op Update

I had my f/u appointment today and it went well.  It was hard to see pictures from the surgery, which showed my pregnancy sitting next to the hole in my tube, barely attached.  But it was also nice to see that from the outside, my left tube still looks great.  It's still compromised though from the surgery I had on it last summer.

I talked with my RE at length about IVF and what he would expect/hope to see from patients like us (multiple losses, borderline SA, short LPs, etc, etc).  He's optimistic that IVF would bring us success.  Cost is definitely the biggest issue for us and as far as we know insurance *could* cover nothing.  I say could because they've covered all meds and u/s's up to this point, I just don't know if that would remain the same if IVF is attached to that.  We will also be considering PGS and ISCI with IVF (which will increase cost also). 

If we proceed with IVF I will have my fourth (and hopefully final) lap, to finally remove that left tube.  My RE feels it's too much of a risk keeping it in their with my history and I agree.  I feel like a big dummy for not just having it taken out with my right, but emotionally I just could not handle losing both right now.

He said we can TTCAL again on our own if we want to, but to test ASAP and call ASAP if I do end up pregnant so he can monitor me from day 1.  We're going to start BC as soon as my next cycle starts so we will be TTA for at least a couple of months or possibly until IVF.

Glad to hear you have a "plan."  Sometimes just knowing that you won't be TTC for a few months can be a huge stress reliever.  I wish you luck in whatever choice you make.  Four laps--you are a strong woman!  I had one and hope to never have one again!

Thank you for updating us. It sounds like the f/u went well and I think it's encouraing that your RE thinks IVF would work. I hate that money is an issue, why does it have to cost so much? It's no fair.

I'm glad that your appointment went well, but I can't imagine what you must be feeling right now. Those are some big decisions! I wish you the best BEB and I hope that you and your husband can make a plan that you are both happy with. Lots and lots of ((hugs))

I know!  My REs office is actually more on the affordable side of IVF (if there's such a thing), just compared to 'average IVF' costs I've seen listed on other REs sites- but it's still a lot!  But it will be worth it to us, to know we've done everything we can.

First, you have not been needy, so please do not feel like you need to apologize for anything. We're here to support you whenever you need us love.

It sounds like you had a good appointment and it's great that your RE has a possible plan for you guys. I definitely think it's worth looking into with your insurance. They might have exceptions to the "Won't pay for IVF" thing. I hope you are able to come to a decision you are comfortable with very soon. (hugs)

I'm glad your appt went well and that your RE is optimistic about the IVF.  I hope if you decide to go that route, you are able to get some help from your insurance company.  Big Hugs and I'm sorry you had to see those pics.

Thanks ladies.  Overall, I have a good feeling about things, as good as it can be.  The financial liaison got back to me and got my insurance info and will be calling them soon to find out if my meds, u/s's and b/w would still be covered even though my insurance says 'No IVF'.  Fx it does so we can get this show on the road!
