nap ?

James just turned 1. He didn't go down to 2 naps a day until he was like 9 months old, so I thought it would be awhile before he went down to 1 nap a day.  But this is day 4 of only one nap a day. The problem is these naps are less than 1 hour. So all day long he is sleeping less than 1 hour. Did anyone elses kid drop to one nap and not have it be a long one? He is finally sleeping at night, so maybe this is the trade off?

Re: nap ?

  • That's how it was when my first went down to one nap. She started sleeping through the night, but would nap no more than an hour during the day. As long as he doesn't seem exhausted, I think he'll be fine!

  • DD is 18 mos and has FINALLy gone to one long afternoon nap, at about 17 mos. It took about 2 months of her only taking one short nap a day. She was a cranky mess by the end of the day, so I knew she wasn't getting enough sleep. It also happened at the time the she finally started STTN. I think it's just a lot of variables for a kid to work on at once, so something's gotta give. Now she wakes up around 6-7 a.m., takes a nap from 1-3 p.m. and goes to bed around 7 p.m.
