Just popping in this way with 2 questions:
what hospital did you deliver at? what hospital did you avoid?
My RE recommended and new Dr. for after my time with her is up. He is at ENH .... I'm not familiar with that hospital and have been seeing a gyn @ Rush (I do dislike her staff more than any other "professionals" that I've ever met, really rude people)
Just curious
Thanks!
Re: Chicagoland Moms
I delivered at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. LOVED my labor nurses/care... so much that I get teary just thinking about them
. However, I cannot say the same for the Mother/Baby Unit staff. I was basically left all alone for the entirety of my stay and any time I asked for something they acted like it was a huge inconvenience. Most first time moms wish they could stay at the hospital longer but I couldn't wait to get out. I do not plan to deliver there again.
I think ENH is now Northshore University Medical (or something) and all my other doctors belong to this group ~ I've received excellent care from them but cannot speak about the OBGYN program.
I delivered at St. Mary's birth center. I loved it, for the most part. Some of the nurses were amazing, and some were biitchy. It is a Catholic hospital, so just beware that you might be accosted by a 'spiritual leader' about your faith. I do know that ladies with c-sections had some problems. The birth center does not have a nursery and usually does not take babies away from the mothers. A mother who had a c-section was in the room next to me, and she was unable to pick up her baby and was constantly paging the nurses. They were always talking about her and complaining. I felt so bad for her and her baby. The baby was always screaming because he couldn't be picked up. Anyway, that's something to think about.
Oh, and I loved my midwife, by the way. I saw Julie Harrison, and she was amazing with her support of me wanting as natural of a birth as possible. She was really encouraging.
