OB/GYN-Infertility newbie

edited July 2021 in Ohio Babies
Hi all Im new here. Im just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a good OB GYN that also handles infertility? Ive seen 5 doctors within the last 4-5 years and nothing has been treated and Im not pregnant.Any advice or suggestions will be much appreciated!

Re: OB/GYN-Infertility newbie

  • You probably want to see a reproductive endocrinologist, not an ob. However, dr Hackett at professionals for women's health can do infertility treatments. I've struggled with secondary infertility and he was wonderful. For primary infertility though, you may still want the re.

  • Try RGI in Westerville off of Cleveland ave or Ohio Reproductive off of Olentangy/Henderson in Columbus. We used RGI and they were great and I've heard good things about Oh Repro.
  • Thank you ladies. My last GYN referred me to an endocrinologist but im not sure if he is specifically for reproduction or not. I only saw him once, he did some blood work said everything was OK and gave me some pills to take for my PCOS but to this day nothing has gotten better or worse or even changed. He told me to come back in 6 months. So now Im waiting for the 6 months appointment.
  • I also highly suggest the group in westerville. The doctors and entire staff were amazing a very knowledge regarding a wide range of reproductive issues.

  • Seriously, stay away from Dr. Hackett. I have never met a doctor who was a bigger *** or who had a larger god complex. Horrible man.

I have a couple of friends who went to RGI and gave the practice glowing reviews!

  • I also would highly recommend that you see a Reproductive Endocrinologist.  There is a lot more monitoring that can be done rather than just at an OB/GYN office.  At an RE, they can use ultrasound to monitor the development of your follicle growth.  Once your follicles get to a certain size additional medication can be given to induce ovulation to maximize your chances at conceiving.  Their are other treatments that can be done as well.  Many people think going the fertility route means IVF, that is not always the case.  There are many options out there.

For my son, we saw Dr. Schmidt at Ohio Reproductive Medicine.  I really liked him.  My experience at ORM was great.  I have heard of others that did not care for the facility and loved the place in Westerville.  You can always go to both places and feel out which place is best for you.   There is one Dr. at ORM, that I did not care for.  For most of my appointments, I saw Dr. Schmidt.  The only time I had to see another doctor was during my IUI's.  That Dr. I did not care for much.  The reason I had to see another doctor was based on their work schedule and my ovulation schedule.  But I was at the point where I didn't care if a supermarket cashier did the IUI, I just wanted a baby.

I hope your journey with infertility ends soon.

  • I also went to Dr Schmidt at Ohio Reproductive Medicine.  Absolutly loved him!!!  I felt like he really knew what he was doing and understood what we were going thru.  He was super compassionate and made the whole experience so much easier on us.  He also didn't mind when I had to wake him up in the middle of the night for emergency calls.  :)   Loved the nurses there and never had a bad experience with the office.  We're expecting our first baby in August thanks to Dr Schmidt!
  • Congrats allie1981! So exciting! I have put a few calls into ORM, someone called me back but since then we have been playing phone tag and i haven't heard anymore from anyone in a week. I had some additional questions in regard to insurance and such and wanted to get them answered prior to making an appointment, for fear of having to pay a very large amount out of pocket. So I'm still trying to get in, thank you for all the advice/suggestions.
  • My OB/GYN has just recently started doing testing on both my husband and me as we've been trying for a while with no luck. I go to Carol Jenkins at Crosswoods Women's Health off of RT 23 in Lewis Center and she has been wonderful!
