SATC question

I just started watching SATC in  June.  I record the reruns every night.  So, I havent gotten the whole story, or even most of it in order. 

Here is my question and I am probably just confused.  I saw the one where Miranda met Steve the other day.  Is his last name Brady?  And then their babies name is Brady?

Explain to me where I am confused....please

    the baby's last name is hobbes, like miranda. ?i don't know if they changed it later on, but yes, steve's last name is brady.?

    Ok well that makes more sense.  I knew they ended up together though so, that is why I was so confused, thanks!  It was driving me crazy that they would name him Brady Brady
