What kind of baby carrier do you have??

I'm looking for a baby carrier that will last for a while i have a 3 year old daughter now so i imagine i will be using one alot with the new baby. With my daughter i bought a cheap one that i didnt really use or like.I've heard people talk about the  Ergo baby carrier but just curious what everyone uses and likes.

Thank you :o)

Re: What kind of baby carrier do you have??

  • I love my Ergo. My LO is still light (approx 9lbs) and when I carry her, it feels just like it did when I was pregnant (without the joint pains, lol). I bought it from a local store, and the ladies there both had their kids in Ergos at the store, and the kids were 2 and 3 and the women told me they wore them all day while working and they found it to be perfectly comfortable.

  • mamabargains.com right now has the Beco on for half price.  I just bought mine as I did my research and they came highly recommended even over the Ergo by baby wears.  But it's all personal preference.
  • I have a ring sling, Ergo, and am getting a Beco. I like having options.

  • Ooh! I have an Okkatots carrier that I love and a K'tan that I can't stand. For me, ease of getting baby in is the make/break.  Okkatots has a pouch that you load baby in separately. You put on the harness and four clips to attach baby to you! It requires no contorting of yourself or baby. It is super comfy.

I found it on amazon for $80 with free shipping.

  • I have a Boba. I love it. LOVE IT. It is very similar to an Ergo, but supposedly a little better for older toddlers. We've worn both of my older girls at various ages without any issues. Both love it. I wore it with my youngest DD at Sea World in December while 32 weeks pregnant and did great with it.

  • I have three and I love them all.

My Ergo is great and will probably get the most long term use, but its pretty bulky for use around the house with a small baby.

My Moby is awesome and once LO is in it I can wear her for hours and do whatever I need to get done. I can bend and reach and move freely without worrying about her.

I also love my ring sling. It's not truly hands free, but its super easy to put on (with practice) and LO does feel secure when I get her in right. I usually keep one in the diaper bag for trips to the grocery store or for when we go out to eat.

My personal suggestion would be to get either a Moby or ring sling for the first while and then get an ergo for when your new babe is bigger.

  • The Moby is great up to about 16 lbs. DD never really liked the Ergo as much as the Moby. She preferred to be forward facing on my front side, which is not possible with the Ergo. However, I do believe you can do this with the beco.

  • We have been loving our Moby for the infant stage; both DH and I wear him regularly. I think the difficulty of tying it is vastly overblown; we were both proficient after less than a handful of times. It takes about 60 seconds to get on. My only complaint with it is that it's quite warm to wear, but I run very warm anyway.

We also have an Ergo, which I haven't used yet, but like pp said I imagine that is what we'll get the most long term use out of.

  • I have an Ergo, a Mei Tei, a ring sling and a Moby wrap. DD is still learning how to use them and we are having the best luck with the ring sling but I am hopeful about the Ergo especially for DH.

  • I love my Ktan. I also have a 3 and 4 year old so I needed something that went on easy and fast and I could play in without fabric flowing down. Its also great for newborn sizes.
  • I have an ergo which I really like, but we also have a Beco Butterfly which I'm wearing right now since it's better for smaller babies than the ergo, and it's awesome! It's good for big kids too, but can be used for kids under 12lbs. With the Ergo, you need their bulky and terrible infant insert which I can't stand, clearly, lol.

  • We have the baby bjorn miracle and love it. It distributes the weight better than the original bjorn, kind of like the ergo, but with less bulk and no insert needed. Plus baby can face outward eventually.

Last time we had a cheap infantino and it sucked... Very uncomfortable on the back.

Just an absolute casserole of nonsense.

  • I really wanted to use the K'tan. I tried it in the store when I was 30 weeks pregnant. The small fit but was a little too tight so I bought a medium. Well, after DD was born I could not get it to fit at all, it is way too tight. I went back to the store to try the large and it is huge. So no K'tan for me, sadly. I got the baby bjorn miracle instead and love it. It has a lot more back support than the baby bjorn original. I walk everywhere with DD and never had any back pain/strain. She's 13 weeks old and about 14lbs now. However, if you plan on baby wearing long term, the baby bjorn only goes up to 15 months.

  • We have the ultimate baby wrap, which is just like the Moby, but with rings instead of ties. And we have the original Bjorn for short trips and a Babyhawk. I loooooooove my Babyhawk and used it all of the time with my second daughter (and was even able to carry my toddler in it without killing my back).

  • I love.love.love my Ergo. I talked about it so much on the January board I know at least 2 of the women ended up buying [and liking] the Ergo. The really soft wraps made me nervous so the shape of the Ergo made me a lot more comfortable, we've been using it since she was a week old and it's the only way I can get anything done during the day, and it's about the only place DD will sleep during the day.
  • Ergo. I love it!

  • I love my Beco Butterfly 2 but I just found out that they've been discontinued. Plus side is that if you can find someone who still has them in stock they're $30-$40 off... I'm also about to purchase a Boba wrap for portability.

  • My favorite is my ring sling by sleeping baby productions. I also have a Beco Gemini, which is like the Ergo. I had an Ergo before the Beco and I prefer the Beco.
  • Boba 3G.  Very similar to the Ergo but has foot straps and I researched and people seem to be happier with the Boba.  I haven't used it yet but the quality is excellent.
