Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Toys?

Allow me to admit I'm totally clueless what kind of toys I should be providing for 2 month old DS. Any suggestions? He's not into playing with stuff yet, but I want to provide engaging visual stimulation for him - he gets bored pretty easily.

Re: Toys?

  • I just posted this on the Multiples board yesterday and got some great suggestions! Check it out here:

  • My LO isn't really into toys yet, two months old tomorrow. She briefly looks at rattles, bats her arms at the toy bar on her bouncer chair or stares at the dangling toys on her activity mat. These all last 5 min or so, just long enough to take food out of the oven or switch laundry. Most of the time I wear her in a ring sling and she looks around and is happy. I try to tell her what I'm doing as I go, it both entertains her and lets me get things done. When she's overstimulated or tired she leans her head on me and falls asleep.

  • My LO just turned 2 months yesterday and she still isn't into too much. She is getting more interested in her playgym, though. Today she was staring at herself in the mirror and smiling and making happy noises. She also likes to start at this one spot on the wall in our living room. I put her swing facing the wall and she just stares at it while swinging and is happy and it gives me a little bit of a break. Basically I talk with her during the day and sing to her and sometimes read books to her, not too many toys just yet.

  • We had mostly wooden toys for my boy. They are learning textures so plastics toys arent the best as they are toosmooth.  That being said my boy loved the winkle

  • DS likes his OBall rattle, and we have a couple soft grip rattles with little mirrors and black and white shapes inside that he likes. His absolute favorite though is this talking/singing frog that teaches body parts. It's the only way he'll quiet down during diaper changes, and he talks to and smiles at it. Oh, and mirrors. He loves mirrors.
