WWYD? re: headache

DD told me a few times today that her head hurt. It seems unusual that a 3-year old would have a headache, but sometimes it's hard to get information out of her b/c she doesn't understand what she's feeling. She also sometimes stretches the truth and says she hurts when she doesn't (like she told me she had a cough last week when she clearly didn't).

I asked her where it hurt, and she pointed to her forehead. I asked what it felt like, and she said it feels like she ate too much, which makes me think it isn't real.

I've had a migraine all day, and I told her I have a headache this morning. So, she may just be saying it because of that.

WWYD? Should I take her to the Dr.?

  • If you mentioned a headache prior to her coming down with one I'd personally wait it out and see how she feels over the weekend.

I've been battling a nasty cough for weeks now. DD likes to talk about how sick she is, too. She's fine.

  • My ds1 is 4 now but has randomly told me he has a headache from time to time but then two seconds later says its gone. Doctor wasn't concerned. I doubt it's a real headache unless she's acting like she feels bad.

  • Do you or DH get headaches? My mom gets headaches all the time. I do too-- and it started when I was very young. I'm not sure I was as young as 3 but I did start getting headaches well before people thought it was "normal."
