XP from toddler board: Leg turning in

Wondering if anyone has experience with this?

DD is 13 months and not yet walking. She does stand on her own but not regulary. When I hold her hands to walk with her, or when she's pushing a toy, I notice her left leg turns in. It also looks like her hip is turning in at the same time. So when she steps, her leg kind of comes out and around and then in. Does this make any sense? I don't feel like I'm explaining it correctly.

DS has tibial torsion in one of his legs, but it was only his foot that turned in. It mostly corrected itself, although I can still see a slight turn in. But DD's is very different from that. I of course didn't notice this until after we lost insurance and I'm not sure when I'll be able to get her in for an appt.

TIA!

  • I would just call your pediatrician and see if they can get you a referral to be evaluated by early intervention. It should be free to be evaluated and in my state if you require services it is a co pay on a sliding scale based on your income and can be free.

  • Also most of the time children will qualify for medicaid even if the parents do not. I would look into that if you won't be getting insurance again soon.

  • Thank you for the info.  I didn't know I could get a referral without insurance.  DD doesn't qualify for medicaid but I will look into it and see what other options for payment could be arranged.
