PP bleeding

I am almost 5 weeks PP and the bleeding pretty much stopped around 3 weeks. I've been wearing a panty liner just in case and yesterday evening bright red blood showed up. Now it's enough to wear I need to wear a pad. I'm thinking this isn't PP bleeding but I've started menstruating again. Am I correct? I am EBF and I didn't think this would happen so soon.

Have you had your PP check up yet? It takes roughly 6 weeks to heal, and my OB told me that the bleeding should recede but if bright red blood comes back after I've already stopped bleeding before my check up, that it most likely means that I'm doing too much and I need to take it easy.

I had the same thing happen to me, and then it all stopped at 6 week PP. Then, I got my period at 8 weeks PP. I also EBF.

I had the same thing happen this time and last time.  I didn't get my first pp period until DD was 15 months old, so I doubt that was my period this time around.

It's hard to imagine your period would be back this early since you are EBF, but I'm sure it can happen.

It's doubtful it's your period.  Like another poster said, it's more likely that you've done too much.  That healing wound doesn't take much to be irritated.

With DS, it stopped right at my PP check up (6 weeks or so.)  Once he started STTN (around 10 weeks)-- even though I was still EBF-- good old AF started up again.  It wasn't completely consistent, but it was there.

If you're getting more, like a period - that's probably not postpartum bleeding... Also chances are it's not your period since you're EBF, but it could be.  You might want to call your OB to be sure.
