Re: Genetic testing consult

  • Sounds like a good idea, given your nervousness stated in your earlier post. I was quite happy with just having them perform the MaterniT21 test, which carried no risk to the baby and gave me sound, solid results.

And the genetic counselor really put my mind at ease, too, with her explanations of some things.

    Good luck!

At what week in your pregnancy did you have the test done?  I just want to make sure I am on the ball with these tests in case my doctor or her nurse forget.

You can do the maternity21 as early as 10 weeks.

  • Good luck with the testing, I just got a referral for my genetic testing consult as well.  They've done the blood test already but was told if anything looks abnormal they will call and do a nucal screening.  Otherwise was told we'll just have more blood work down the road.  I know we will have genetic counseling with our ultrasound around the 18 week mark (providing nothing comes back as a potential problem with the blood work).  I am a carrier for Cystic Fibrosis so waiting to find out if DH is as well.  I pray we all have healthy babies...good luck!
